High temperature and drought rice missed the flood season

Since the beginning of summer this year, a large number of high-temperature weather has appeared in China. In many places, rice transplanting has been postponed due to drought and water shortage, resulting in a late growing period of rice. This will be an important factor affecting rice production this year. A few days ago, Dr. Tang Mingqiang, a researcher at the Fujian Agricultural and Forestry Ecological Application Research Institute and a doctor of agriculture, suggested that these areas should appropriately increase the spraying of some high-quality foliar fertilizers and reduce the adverse effects of natural disasters on rice. It is understood that Dr. Tang Mingqiang has long been engaged in research on the ecological environment of microorganisms, and he also has considerable experience on the effects of foliar fertilizers on crops.

Tang Mingqiang believes that if these postponed rice plants encounter a “cold dew wind” during the meiosis of pollen mother cells, they will cause poor pollen development and increased infertility pollen grains, which will cause severe harvesting; if it meets “cold dew” during heading "Wind", the heading speed is slowed, and even heading can not occur, resulting in necking phenomenon, which can cause empty shells and pods, leading to reduced production. If the spraying of foliar fertilizers is reasonably increased, the impact of disasters can be effectively mitigated. For example, he said that in the first half of 2010, Jiangxi Province suffered heavy rainstorms, resulting in a reduction in early rice production, and late rice production was also facing severe cold dew effects. However, all second-season late rice in the province generally sprayed a spray and other foliage during heading. Fertilizers still achieved a good total grain output of more than 39 billion jins under extremely unfavorable weather conditions.

Using foliar fertilizers such as Penshibao in time before and after the disaster can play a role in disaster prevention, disaster relief, and disaster reduction. Li Yunchun of Huazhong Agricultural University found that: spraying Penao leaf fertilizer can regulate the opening and closing function of stomata in crop leaves at high temperature and drought, thus improving drought resistance. The root/shoot ratio of crops increased by 17.6% and 5.3% under semi-arid conditions (18% moisture content) and drought conditions (10% moisture content), respectively. From a physiological point of view, the ratio of root to shoot is large, which is beneficial to ease the effects of drought. Research by Lu Zhifeng et al. of Huazhong Agricultural University also showed that the use of spray soaking seeds can increase the proline content of rice plants, and it is beneficial to resist the low-temperature rotten seedling disasters that occurred during the planting period; Treasure products can increase the chlorophyll content of rice plant leaves, slow down the death rate of tillers under low-temperature and low-light conditions, and increase the content of soluble sugars, thereby increasing rice's ability to resist low-temperature, dim-light disasters during the delivery period.
