I. Viper breeding
1, snake field construction. The breeding ground for poisonous snakes should be chosen where it faces the south, the trees are cool, the water is convenient, the environment is quiet, and the terrain is high. The outer wall of the snake chamber is built with a wall and a hole is made in the wall of the snake chamber so that the snake can freely walk between the snake chamber and the wall. The height of the snake house and wall should be higher than 2 meters, and the wall surface is smooth and dark in color. Do not paint white. The facilities within the wall include snake nests, ponds, gutters, feed ponds, rockery piles, activity sites, etc. The snake nests are generally made of masonry adobe type, with tile cylinders as the wall, mud piled outside, and snake pit diameter. 50 centimeters and 50 centimeters high. Each nest has two openings. One of them is facing south or southeast. The top is covered with a movable cover to facilitate the taking of snakes, observation and cleaning. Nest sand and hay in the nest, pay attention to waterproof, ventilation and warmth. Snake nests of this size can accommodate 10-15 poisonous snakes with medium body length, and generally build 4-6 snake nests in a 20 square meter snake farm.
2, feeding and management. Serpents have a wide range of feeding habits, but different snake species have different feed requirements. Five-step snakes like to eat frogs, cockroaches, lizards, birds, and rodents; cobras like to eat frogs and other young snakes; silver ring snakes like to eat yellow cockroaches, loach and so on. Foods can be selected in combination with feeding conditions, and frogs, rodents, fish, insects, cockroaches, etc. can be used as food sources. Serpents have a large food intake. During the campaign, their monthly food intake is close to their own body weight. During the May-November period, they are usually fed once every half month. During the period of spawning in May, the spawning period in July, and the early hibernation in October, the feeds for these three periods are of great importance to the maintenance of viper. If the feed is over-abundant, snakes will be eaten by snakes and snakes should be kept separately. Feeding time is determined by the habit of snakes, such as the silver ring snake, which can throw food near the snake nest when the snake is out of the hole in the evening, making the snake easy to find.
Snakes are hypothermic animals, and are suitable for snake life when the temperature is 13-30°C. Snakes are reduced or dormant when the temperature is lower than 10°C. Snakes will die when the temperature is higher than 40°C. In the summer, it is possible to spray water to cool down or take a shelter. In the winter, some hay or old cotton wool can be used to keep warm in the nest. The snake farm should be cleaned regularly and the epidemic prevention work should be done. The spring viper is prone to stomatitis. The symptoms are swelling of the cheeks and both jaws. You can rub the affected area with gentian violet syrup. When entering the snake farm, you should wear high boots and sticks and clamps to avoid being bitten when fighting a poisonous snake. .
Second, snake venom collection
1, snake venom collection. General from June to October for the period of poisoning, from July to August for the peak period of poisoning, each interval 20-30 days between poisoning. One week before the poisoning, no food is provided, and only water supply can increase the amount of poison. Toxic method: Take a 60ml beaker, tape it to the edge of the workbench, use the right hand to pinch the poisonous snake's neck, force it to open, let the poisonous buds lie on the inner edge of the beaker, and then let it bite the cup; at the same time, use Fingers of the left hand are gently squeezed at the venom gland of the viper and the venom can be harvested.
2, venom treatment. Fresh venom collected is dried immediately. At room temperature, the snake venom was placed in a glass vacuum desiccator with silica gel and pumped with a vacuum pump until the venom bubble was generated. The piston was stopped and the pumping was stopped. After standing for 24 hours, the snake venom became a solid and became a snake poison product.
