What is the symptom of swine pseudorabies? What is the treatment of pseudorabies in pigs? Porcine pseudorabies is an acute infectious disease caused by a variety of livestock and wild animals caused by pseudorabies virus. The relatively weak resistance of pseudorabies virus has had too many adverse effects on our pig industry and will be an important obstacle to the development of our pigs in the next few years.
Symptoms of pigs at different stages
1, piglets
15-day-old piglets showed the most acute type, with a disease duration of no more than 72 hours and a mortality rate of 100%. The main symptoms were a sudden increase in body temperature (41 degrees or more), diarrhea (ineffective with antibiotics), goldfish eyes, eyelids and mouth angles. Edema, two ears behind, vertical, encountering sound stimulation, excitement and screaming, trembling, itching, uncoordinated movement, runny nose, neck muscle stiffness, angular arch reversal, limbs stroke-like movement, blind walking and turning, finally coma death.
2, fattening pigs
It has elevated body temperature, difficulty breathing, coughing, and generally does not die, and lasts longer.
3. Adult sows and boars
Symptoms of respiratory tract, sows in early pregnancy, miscarriage, sows in late pregnancy, often producing stillbirths, mummies or weak and dead babies.
Anatomical determination of pseudorabies in pigs
If your farm has the above situation, it is recommended that you immediately make an anatomical determination of the dead pig or the dying pig. If the following symptoms occur: non-suppurative encephalitis, cerebral congestion, hemorrhage, edema; liver, kidney and heart appear yellow and white necrotic spots of 1-2mm size;
The nasal mucosa is catarrhal or suppurative-hemorrhagic inflammation, and the upper respiratory tract contains a large amount of foam-like edema fluid.
Pulmonary congestion, edema. Piglets, tonsils, liver and spleen have scattered progressive white necrosis. Pulmonary edema, showing lesions of bronchial pneumonia. Pericardial effusion, occasionally plaque hemorrhage of the endocardium.
The gastric mucosa is catarrhal and the mucosa of the fundus is bleeding.
Small intestinal mucosa congestion, edema, and large intestinal mucosa into spotted hemorrhage. When there are neurological symptoms, the meninges are obviously congested, bleeding, edema, and increased cerebrospinal fluid.
The lung lesions are mild, and there are yellow-white necrosis of different sizes on the myocardium.
The liver has a large amount of gray or red and yellow large necrotic foci.
The spleen has a round papule.
The surface of the kidney has bleeding spots of varying sizes and white necrosis.
The intestinal mucosa was severely detached, and the severe peripheral hemorrhage of the mesenteric lymph nodes was purple-black with yellow-white necrosis. The placenta of aborted sows is necrotic placentalitis with blood spots on the surface of the fetus.
It is recommended that you send samples to the laboratory for testing: 1. Pathogen detection, collecting suspected pseudorabies virus infection focus areas such as tonsils and brain tissues of sick pigs, abortion of fetal ascites, heart blood, sows or stillbirths. 2, antibody detection: for vaccine immunization and wild-type antibody detection, directly suspected to be the serum of sick pigs (for antibody immunoassay at least 2 weeks after immunization).
Pig pseudorabies control measures
1. Epidemic monitoring
gE antibody monitoring is an important means of detecting wild-type infections on pig farms. It is recommended that unstable farms be used once a quarter and stable pig farms every six months. The gB antibody test is an effective means to check whether the vaccine is qualified. The pigs are tested at least twice a year on the basic sows and boars. The pigs are tested once before entering the basic herd. The positive rate is 100%.
2, the purchase of breeding pigs
The introduction of breeding pigs is an important way to infect pseudorabies in pig farms. It is not allowed to introduce them to breeding farms with positive rabies infection. The breeding of pigs is carried out according to the following procedures:
(1) Select the pigs to be purchased and transport them back to the isolation house.
(2) The gE antibody was taken by blood sampling according to the purchase ratio, and the test was performed after 2 weeks.
(3) After both tests are negative, the house will be kept for another half a month, and the corresponding immunization work will be done according to the procedure.
(4) After the isolation is stable, the reserve breeding pigs can be introduced into the basic breeding herd. It is strictly forbidden to buy boar semen from a positive field.
3. Production management
When a small number of pigs in the farm are infected and some pseudo-rabies infections are positive in some production lines, the farms use joint childbirth, joint breeding, line management and return feeding.
4, vaccine immunization
(1) Negative pig farm: Before the breeding pigs are mated, 4 times of attenuated vaccine immunization (70/140/175/210 days old) is guaranteed, and 2 immunizations can be performed at the last time. The sows are immunized 3 times a year (two for one immunization), and the boars are immunized twice a year (two for one immunization). According to the epidemic situation, the pigs can choose muscles at 8 weeks of age. Note 1 immunization.
(2) Positive stable field: high positive breeding herd (positive rate more than 2%), piglets were immunized with pre-milk nasal drops, 0.5 nasal drops, and 8 injections at 8 weeks of age. The basic sows were immunized 4 times a year with attenuated vaccines and 3 times for boars. The reserve pigs were immunized according to the negative field protocol. (3) Positive unstable field: 2 attenuated vaccines were immunized by the breeding pigs, and 1 inactivated vaccine was boosted after 3 weeks, and 6 immunizations were performed every year by alternating attenuated vaccines and inactivated vaccines (in 1/5/ In September, an immunized vaccine was immunized once in 3 weeks, and the inactivated vaccine was boosted. The boar performed 2 times of attenuated vaccine immunization plus one inactivated vaccine every year. The commercial pigs performed 0.5 pre-milk nasal drops, and the muscles were strengthened at 8 weeks. Inject attenuated vaccine immunization.
(4) In the original seed field and expansion field, in principle, the whole inactivated vaccine is not used. When the gE test is positive, the whole farm pig is immediately screened for gE antibody. When the positive rate is below 10%, the direct elimination is positive. Pigs were repeated 1 time after 2 weeks. When the positive rate was above 10%, they were treated according to the positive unstable field.
(5) Treatment plan for boar positive field. In principle, positive boars should be eliminated. When the basic sows are negative and the boars are positive, no matter how many boars, the positive boars will be eliminated. When the basal sow is also positive, when the positive proportion of boars does not reach 50%, the positive boars are directly treated. When the positive proportion of boars is more than 50%, the treatment is performed according to the scheme of positive unstable field.
5, disinfection
Effective disinfectants for pseudorabies virus include: phenolic carbonate, 5% phenol, 2% sodium hydroxide, and trisodium citrate. Quaternary ammonium salts and hypochlorous acid disinfectants are less effective in the presence of organic materials. The pig farm can be equipped with a lime isolation belt at the entrance of the pig house, an alkaline disinfectant for the pig farm gate and the pig house door disinfection tank, and a lime milk spray around the pig house for disinfection.
6, purification
Immunization of the protected labeled vaccine is an important part of the purification of the herd, including four links: the fully protected vaccine system is fully immunized, and the serum gE antibody is detected regularly in the herd. When the positive pig is below 10%, the positive elimination is concentrated. Pigs will eventually perform a negative farm immunization program or stop vaccination.
Other measures
Rodent control, banned dogs, cats, and the spread of rodents will threaten the infection of pseudorabies in pig farms. The pig farms should carry out effective rodent control on a regular basis. It is strictly forbidden to keep animals such as dogs and cats, and do a good job of closing measures to prevent wild animals from entering.
If your farm has the following symptoms, then you should be alert to the disease and the pigs will injure your pigs. In a humid, ph6-8 environment, the virus is most stable; at 4-37 ° C, ph 4.3-9.7, the virus loses its activity after 1-7 days; it is highly sensitive to dryness, especially direct sunlight. We must always work hard on the disease.
