However, without a randomized controlled trial with a large amount of data, it is impossible to determine whether the patent foramen ovale is the "culprit" that directly causes stroke or indirectly causes stroke.

Most of these patients are patients with patent foramen with large diameter and are suitable for surgery. It is consistent with the data of China's multi-center study, that is, only the foramen ovale with large aperture is the pathological state, and the small foramen ovale is visible in normal people and does not need to be treated. Therefore, we should have the understanding that most of the young stroke or cryptogenic stroke patients do not have to undergo surgery immediately even if the patent foramen ovale is found.
At present, it is gratifying that many hospitals in China have carried out this patent for the treatment of patent foramen ovale; the Chinese youth stroke patients have access to the clinic. However, from another perspective, the operator's learning curve also takes a certain amount of time. Therefore, the occlusion of the foramen ovale should be “anti-leftâ€: no patient's cause is accurately judged and highly selective, no surgeon is good. The ability to operate, this treatment can not be carried out quickly and extensively.
From the patient's point of view, don't be too anxious, because the recurrence rate of stroke caused by patent foramen ovale is also very low, and you can have enough time to make careful decisions.
