Xinhua News Agency's micro-characteristics Recently, British researchers found that testing for genetic variation by blood test can predict the risk of heart attack and help to intervene early on for people with congenital heart attacks.
Researchers at the British Heart Foundation analyzed 1.7 million genetic variants and established an assessment model to predict the risk of heart attack in 500,000 subjects, including 22,000 patients with confirmed heart disease. The higher the score, the higher the risk of a heart attack. The results showed that the 20% of the highest scored people had a four-fold higher risk of heart attack and related problems than the lowest scored 20%.
Studies have also shown that some subjects are healthy by conventional physical examination criteria, but the risk of heart attack is still high, although their cholesterol levels and blood pressure are not high. Researchers therefore believe that this assessment model can help early intervention for people with congenital heart attacks.
On October 9th, the British "Times" quoted the research leader, Professor of the British Heart Foundation, Professor Nalsh Samani, as saying that this test method "helps doctors choose the patients who benefit most from intervention and avoid Unnecessarily screening for people who are unlikely to benefit." The relevant research report was published by the American Society of Cardiology Weekly.
The researchers predict that a blood test can cost up to 40 pounds (about 363 yuan) to predict the risk of heart attack. However, relevant research still needs to be approved by the regulatory authorities and find business partners to promote the application. (Yuan Yuan)
