Seed processing method
1. Low-temperature treatment, also called freezing, is commonly used for melons and solanaceous vegetables. The method is: the seeds that will germinate after bloating are frozen at a temperature of about 0°C for 1 to 2 days, and then sown to promote the germination and enhance the cold resistance of the seedlings.
2. Variable temperature treatment. The tomato or cucumber seed to be germinated is placed at a relatively low temperature of 1 to 5°C for 12 to 18 hours per day, and then transferred to a relatively high temperature of 18 to 22°C for 12 to 16 hours, and thus repeated for several days. Significantly increase the cold resistance of vegetable seedlings and accelerate their growth and development.
Low-temperature hardening method
1. About 10 days before the planting of seedlings, strictly control watering, and gradually increase ventilation, reduce the seedbed temperature to 15~20°C during the day, and reduce it to 5~10°C at night (cucumber, pepper, eggplant, etc.) Robust tomato seedlings can be reduced to 1~5°C).
2. Remove all coverings 3 to 4 days before colonization. In this way, the seedlings can be better adapted to the open environment after colonization, which will help shorten the seedling period and increase the survival rate.
